Summer seems to be speeding along and I just wanted to give everybody an update about Pushed, the next book in the Benny James mystery series. As of now, it is out of my hands. I have finished with all of my edits. My editor has the manuscript and my graphic designer does as well. All I can do now is wait. I am so excited to release this book. I thought Birdsongs was pretty good, but this one is awesome. Before editing Pushed, my editor asked if she could go back and spruce up Birdsongs a bit and I said yes. So, if you happen to get an email from Amazon in the next week or so offering you an updated version, just say yes! It is free and will be the professionally edited version.

As I wait for the editing and designing, I am working on a third book in the series. I came up with a great idea for another story and I am going to work hard to get it out to you. I just finished writing a scene where Red was in his garden, of course, and he had bought a sculpture for it that cost him a thousand tomatoes.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Benny spotted Red in his garden. His cat Galaxie followed one step behind. Red spent most of his time in his garden and he sometimes even napped among his plants. Red had been raised by deaf-mute parents away from the world in the Ozark mountains. He had arrived on Benny’s doorstep a few years earlier and Benny loved everything about him and looked after him like a father would his own son.

“Bendy,” Red hollered as he spotted the Jeep in his driveway.

Benny walked toward Red and noticed the large sculpture behind him.

“Does you seeing my art. Red now liking art.”

“It would be hard to miss,” Benny said studying the piece.

“It a sea aminal with super light power.”

            “I see.”

At the back of Red’s garden stood a giant metal sea creature, almost as high as the house which looked like a mutation of an octopus. Instead of eight arms, Benny quickly counted a dozen or more snaking in all directions. Attached to each of the arms were thousands upon thousands of tiny mirrors. Light reflected from the piece and from some angles Benny thought is was almost painful to view.

“The vegables thanking me everyday for this.”

“Let me guess,” Benny said. “They like all the extra light?”

            “Yep. You smart man, Bendy.”

“I don’t mean to pry into your personal business,” Benny started, “but how much did you pay for this?”

Benny had collected five hundred thousand dollars for Red a few years earlier and wanted to make sure Karl had not found out about his money and was trying to take advantage of him.

            “It costed a thousand tomatoes.”

“You didn’t give Karl any money?”

“Nope. He just say I owe him a thousand tomatoes.”

“You’re quite the business man. I didn’t know you were selling your vegetables? You always give me stuff for free.”

“That because you Red bestest friend.”
